Lesson 07: Prophet hood of Muhammad and its traits

The chain of prophet hood that started from Hazrat Adam, was ended and completed by the last prophet Hazrat Muhammad. All those traits which past prophets were awarded separately by Allah were collectively given to Prophet Muhammad The risalat of Prophet Muhammad has very prominent characteristics and few, of them are given below...

i. Universality: The prophet hood of past prophets before Prophet Muhammad was for certain nation or country but the prophet hood of Muhammad is for all people till the Day of Judgment.

Allah says:

Translation: (Oh Muhammad), "O Mankind, indeed I am the messenger of Allah. to you all".

ii. Cancellation of Previous Shariahs:

The shariah of Prophet Muhammad cancelled all past shariahs. Now, the

shariah of Prophet Muhammad will be followed only.

Allah says in Quran:

وَمَنْ يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ الْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا فَلَنْ يُقْبَلُ مِنْهُ ( آل عمران : 85)

Translation: "And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him.

iii. Perfection and Completion:

The Deen of Allah has been completed on Hazrat Muhammad. He has been given that perfect deen (a code of life) which is sufficient for all mankind, therefore, no any other religion is needed now.

Translation: "This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed my favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion".

iv. Protection of the Book:

The books sent to old prophets have been diminished or they are not preserved now in their real state. As, there is a lot of amendments in them. There is so much blending of falsehood with truth in them that it is very difficult to differentiate right. from the wrong. However, the book revealed on the last prophet even after fourteen hundred years is preserved in the exact state as it was revealed. There is no change even in a letter in this book. The Holy Quran is not only preserved in a written state but it is saved in the hearts of hundred of thousands of people:

Allah says in Quran:

إنا نحنُ نَزَلْنَا الذِكرَ وَ اتَالَ لَحفِظُونَ (الجر)

Translation: Indeed, It is we who sent down the Quran and indeed, We will be its guardian.

v. Safe Guarding Sunnah of Prophet:

A great arrangement has been done by Allah for preserving the sunnah of Hazrat Muhammad there was a large number of Muhadaseen (compilers of Hadiths) in every era, who dedicated their lives for the preservation of prophet's sunnahs. Hence, sunnah is the explanation of Holy Quran which is the best source of guidance for people. till the Day of Judgement. Besides preservation of Quran, Allah J has also arranged a system for saving sunnah of prophet.

vi. Perfectness and Collectivity:

The prophet hood of apostles in past was for a certain nation or country, Therefore, their teachings were concerned with that nation and age. However, Hazrat Muhammad has been sent as a prophet for all mankind and eras. Therefore, there is so much perfection in Prophet Muhammad's teachings that all people till the last day irrespective of their nation and tribe could get guidance from him.

vii. Practicality:

The teachings of Rasulullah are not merely ideological but prophet.himself acted on his teachings and implemented them. When his life is studied, it is known that whether it is family life or political life, it is behaving with children or dealing with elders, whether it is wartime or peace time, it is a matter of worship or negotiating business, whether it is dealing with relatives or neighbors, in every aspect of life, the character of our Prophet Muhammad is the best role model for us.

Allah says is Quran:

لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ ( الاحزاب :21 )

Translation: "There has certainly been for you in the messenger of Allah an excellent pattern".

viii. Rahmatal lil Alameen: (Mercy For All The Worlds)

Allah has sent the Prophet Muhammad as a mercy for all the worlds.

Allah says in Quran:

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِلْعَلَمِينَ (الانبياء:107)

Translation: "And we have not sent you, (O Muhammad), except as a mercy to the worlds":

ix. Awarding of Kausar:

Allah has granted this blessing to Hazrat Muhammad that he will be awarded by the pond of Kausar on the day of judgement. It is said by Allah
